- Curator's comments
- See Naoko Takahatake, 'The chiaroscuro woodcut in Renaissance Italy', Los Angeles County Museum of Art 2018, cats.31 and 32. There are three known related drawings by Parmigianino. This is one of the four woodcuts that Vasari listed as having been cut by Antonio da Trento after Parmigianino. It is only known in three states, of which this is the second. This impression was printed by the F on Three Mounts printer in the final quarter of the XVIc; for an early impression see W,4.86 (information kindly communicated by Naoko Takahatake).
