See BMSat 10652. A scene at a rout. A lady, young and graceful, points to a tall clumsy officer in regimentals, holding a cocked hat, whose tight coat is grotesquely wrinkled. He wears jack-boots and a sabre in an ornamental sheath. She turns to a grotesque elderly man who bows, chapeau-bras. Four other ladies (r.) and two men (l.), all caricatured, listen with obsequious amusement. Below the design:
'"Bless me!" her Ladyship exclaims,
"Who's this, so monstrous tall,
This Son of Mars who holds his head
So high above us all?"
"They meant him, Lady, for the Church,
Tis whisper'd 'mongst the people,"
"Dear Sir, you surely must mistake
Perhaps you mean the Steeple." 2 January 1806
