- Curator's comments
- This is from 'St Cloud brûlé!', a series of thirteen etchings (including a title-page) showing Saint-Cloud after the Franco-Prussian War.
The BM keeps a complete set, printed on thin paper (1873,0510.3314 to 3325); the prints are kept in a brown paper folder which features the etched title-page printed on the front (it does not however have a register number). The title-page shows a table of the prints included in the series and some production & publication detail ('Eaux-fortes par F. Pierdon' and 'Cadart & Luce Imprimeurs 58 Rue N.ve des Mathurins'), lettered on a spread curtain; above is a view of Saint-Cloud, and below, peering under the curtain, an owl.
