- Ward's picture was first exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts in London in 1867 (no.523) as 'Scene from the childhood of Joan of Arc' with a quote from Lord Mahon; it was lent by G. Bullock to the Paris Exposition Universelle in 1878 (no.258) and shown under the title, 'La jeunesse de Jeanne d'Arc'; its present location (2009) is unknown. The print exists in at least three states, in each of which the lettering is slightly different; see also1874,0110.362 (information from Donato Esposito).
