Doctor Johnson in the Ante-Room of the Lord Chesterfield Waiting for an Audience; Dr Johnson, in dark clothes, sitting with one hand on his stick, the other holding his hat, in an elegant interior with several others waiting also, a lawyer yawning by the window on the left, a dandy on the right flirting with a pretty young woman who rests one hand on the shoulder of her black page, and a man in the background at the end of a passage, bowing as he enters Lord Chesterfield's room; in an arch; after Ward; illustration to the Art Journal of 1853.
