Collective portrait of the members of the provisional government established in Paris following the Revolution of 1848: twelve men, half-length, some seated, the others standing up, most of them looking to the right; they are, from left to right, Louis Blanc, Laurent-Antoine Pagnerre, Alphonse de Lamartine, Armand Marrast, Jacques-Charles Dupont de l'Eure, Adolphe Crémieux, Louis-Antoine Garnier-Pagès, Pierre Marie, Ferdinand Flocon, François Arago, Albert l'ouvrier, and Alexandre Ledru-Rollin; in front of Louis Blanc is a desk upon which is the decree abolishing the death penalty (26 February 1848)
