- Curator's comments
- Lebeer puts this print and its pair (1875-4-10-184) in the category "Estampes Complémentaires," that is, prints that are not directly or indirectly based on original designs by Bruegel. Freedberg likewise notes that these prints cannot be directly connected with Bruegel and that their designs were probably not even 16th-century. See D. Freedberg, 'The Prints of Pieter Bruegel the Elder,' Tokyo, 1989, no. 94-95.
