- Curator's comments
- The so-called Tomb of Nero is the Tomb of Vibius Marianus on the Via Cassia, about two miles beyond the Ponte Molle. cf. etching by Breenburgh (B 25).
Possibly by Guilliam du Gardijn, cf. drawings in the Rijksprentenkabinet in Amsterdam, see Peter Schatborn, 'Drawn to Warmth, 17th-century Dutch artists in Italy', Amsterdam, 2001, pp.75-76, figs.C-D.
