The inscription translates: “Andrea Barbazza of Messina, (‘Marsanius’ should read ‘Mesanius’), Knight, juriconsult of the king of Aragona and excellent in both laws” and it is after a medal by Sperandio Savelli of Mantua. Andrea Barbazza, originally from Sicily, pursued his studies at the University of Bologna.
