- Curator's comments
- This is the frontispiece to a complete copy of the English edition of the book. There was an earlier Italian edition that was published in Rome in 1687. The English edition was printed in London the following year, but used the same plates that were either brought to London for reprinting, or which used impressions brought from Rome.
For thes book and its political implications, see Antony Griffiths, 'The Print in Stuart Britain', 1998, cat.206 (this copy of the book).
