- The Vauxhall Royal Balloon was constructed by the proprietors of Vauxhall Gardens, and made its first ascent from there, piloted by Charles Green, 9 September 1836. It subsequently made the famous voyage from London to Weilburg in November 1836, and was afterwards re-named The Great Nassau Balloon. It was used until wrecked during inflation prior to a scientific ascent in 1859.
