The inscription states that the sitter was the secretary of Monsignor ‘Levizani’, who was Benedict XIV’s Secretary of the ‘Memoriali’, dated December 1744.
The reference is to Giuseppe Livizzani (1688-1754), who was nominated cardinal in 1753. The secretary of the ‘Memoriali’ dealt with the pleas sent to the pontiff from his subjects.
