- See Naoko Takahatake, 'The chiaroscuro woodcut in Renaissance Italy', Los Angeles 2018, cat.20-21. This print is based on the engraving by Marcantonio Raimondi (B.XIV.21.20, the version without the fir tree) which in turn is based on a drawing by Raphael. There are 14 recorded impressions of this print, all of them early.
In this impression there appears to be some touches of pen and ink throughout the composition.
For further information and bibliography see the entry by Naoko Takahatake on the online catalogue 'Atlante delle xilografie italiane del Rinascimento', ALU.0951.1.
