- The group of sheets purchased from Daniell were registered in subject order (primarily alphabetically by letter) rather than by the source book. There are two primary sources.
The first is "Le Moyen Âge et la Renaissance, histoire et description des moeurs et usages du commerce et de l'industrie, des sciences, des arts, des littératures et des beaux-arts, en Europe. Direction littéraire de P. Lacroix. Direction artistique de F. Seré. Dessins fac-simile par A. Rivaud. F.P." published in 5 vols quarto, Paris, 1848-51.
The second is Henry Shaw's "Dress and decorations of the Middle Ages", published in 2 vols by William Pickering, 1843 (for the book see 169,d.6,7). The pages are those of commentary that accompany the full-page reproductions.
1870,1008.1292 does not belong to either series and is entered separately.
