Soldiers halted by a sutler's booth; at left a tent and sheet tied to a tree, with horses and riders waiting beside, one man blowing a trumpet, another holding a tankard, another at centre, holding his horse with one hand and with the other the chin of a young woman with a kettle, a beggar kneeling in front of them; in the foreground at left children playing with a dog, beyond at right more soldiers and horses at rest on the grass, in the distance an encampment on a shore; coat of arms below; after Wouwerman. 1740
