Lettered on the title-page with the title and a quotation: "Burn, sooty slander, burn thy blotted scroll; Greatness is greatness, spite of envy's sould." With the publication details at the foot of the page:

Two pamphlets entitled: 'Life of the late Thomas Coutts, Esq. Banker in the Strand' and a, 'Biographical and historical addenda to the life of the late Thomas Coutts, esq.'
were acquired by the museum along with this publication ' See 1869, 0213.67.1 and 1869.0213.67.
The 'Life of the late Thomas Coutts, Esq. Banker in the Strand' has a frontispiece portrait which is attributed to George Cruikshank and further information is provided in Cohn 167 and Reid 4794.
