Album bound in red leather with gilt ruling and a banded spine stamped "DESSINS DE MOREAU LE JE./POUR L'HISTOIRE DE FRANCE/I", the first of 4 volumes, containing 80 unnumbered leaves with drawings by Moreau le jeune alternating with prints after them, each laid down within drawn borders, 2 free endpapers, one titlepage and 4 blank leaves (on one an additional leaf pasted in, with a signed and dated note by the artist referring to Renouard's acquisition of the plates), also 4 inserted leaves from the publication (including a half-title and full title); with a sheet of printed text laid down beneath each drawing within the border, and empty compartments drawn beneath the prints; scenes with French historical figures. 1777-1779

- Also pasted into the album is a leaf signed, dated and inscribed by Moreau le jeune with receipts for payment by Renouard for the illustrations (1934,0918.1).
There is an ex-libris on the fixed endpaper with a device incorporating an R and "BIBLIOTHEQUE/A.A.RENOUARD."
