Portrait of William Kent, half-length to front, with head turned and slightly lifted to look up to left; wearing a soft cap and loose gown over shirt; in an oval frame with egg and dart and acanthus leaf decoration, surrounded by ornamental design of ribbon and swags within a rectangle, resting on a plinth, on which lie architect's tools at left and palette with brushes and scroll of paper at right; illustration to vol IV of Walpole's 'Anecdotes of Painting in England' with additions by the Rev James Dallaway (London: 1826-28); after Aikman; lettered only within image.
