Curator's comments
(Description and comment from M. Dorothy George, 'Catalogue of Political and Personal Satires in the British Museum', XI, 1954) Cumberland's political influence ended with the death of George IV. "Grave" in the title is heavily shaded, in allusion to the recent scandal, see No. 16011, &c. No such appointment was made, but Sussex became Ranger of St. James's Park and Hyde Park.
