Satire on the resignation of Pitt and peace negotiations with France; Britannia, holding a portrait of Pitt, weeps, her spear and sword lying on the ground; on the left, a Frenchman gives a bag of £10,000 to two Spaniards; on the right, two bewigged men look on as chests addressed to Bussy, the French ambassador to London, are filled with money bags; a paper on the ground is addressed in French to the Duke of Bedford; in the background, warships are moored in a harbour despite a wind that could send them to sea.

- The Duke of Bedford began peace negotiations with France by the middle of 1762, at first secretly, and in September he went to Paris; he signed the preliminaries on 3 November.
The design for this print is attributed to Hayman on stylistic grounds although it is not included in Allen's catalogue.
