- Curator's comments
- The relevant incident took place on 2 August 1716 after Curll had used without permission a funeral oration for Dr Robert South given by John Barber, headmaster of Westminster School. He was invited to the School expecting to be honoured for his biography of the Dr South but was instead abused as shown in the frontispiece. Wesley's pamphlet took the form of a mock-heroic poem.
