A Dutch broadside on the defeat of the French at La Hogue; with an etching by de Hooghe showing in the centre an heroic Dutch sailor, brandishing a knife and a broom with which he has swept the seas clean; at his feet kneels a Frenchman who surrenders his sword, defecating on his flag, his scabbard and a pile of coins lie on the ground before him; behind him, to right, an Englishman threatens to behead a frightened Jacobite whom he grasps by the hair, raising an axe in his right hand; in the background, a naval battle rages and prisoners are brought ashore. With engraved title, and with letterpress title and Dutch verses in two columns. (n.p.:[1692])

- This appears to be the original version of a composition that was repeated several times, see 1871,1209.4865 (1692), 1882,0812.398 (1692), 1882,0812.413 (1702), 1868,0808.3736 and 1870,0514.2832 (two states of a broadside of 1743), and 1868,0808.4091 (1759).
N.B. Muller appears to have confused the sequence of versions in his numbers 2866a, b and c.
