- Curator's comments
- An illustration to a book, according to Chaloner Smith.
A letter attached to this impression, from James W Milner at the National Portrait Gallery to O'Donoghue dated 17 April 1913, warns that the print could not possibly represent Archbishop Williams, but is most probably of another official who was keeper of the Privy Purse to Queen Henrietta Maria, and whose monogram 'HMR' is on the purse.
The letter is probably incorrect on the last point as the monogram surely stands for 'Henrietta Maria Regina'.
