King and Queen in contrasted situations; above: [1] 'All the Majesty of the British Empire!!!' The King (left), in crown and robes, sits in an arm-chair, awkward and undistinguished. Below: 'His Most Illustrious Majesty William the Fourth . . . &c. &c. &c.' The Queen, ungainly in a trimmed décolletée dress, and with feathers in her hair, left hand at her waist makes a contemptuous gesture of admonition or dismissal towards the King! Below: 'Her Most Lovely Majesty Queen Adelaide'.
[2] 'Fancy Sketches of Mr. and Mrs. William Guelph. | Should their Most Gracious Majesties ever be reduced, (which Almighty God forbid!) to the general condition of poor humanity'. The King, 'William Guelph', a ragged crossing-sweeper, kneels in the street to Grey, holding out his hat for alms. Grey walks stiffly on with a rejecting expression. The Queen, 'Adelaide Guelph', as a broom-girl (cf. BM Satires No. 17082), with a sly half-smile holds up one of her brooms to an open window, where Brougham sits, making a derisive gesture which is almost that of thumbing his nose. 1832

- (Description and comment from M. Dorothy George, 'Catalogue of Political and Personal Satires in the British Museum', XI, 1954)
Four numbers of this Radical sheet are in the Print Room. It is a superior production to the street-paper, better drawn and engraved, on better paper, and without trace of illiteracy. Signature and imprint are the same throughout. No. 2, 'School Up—Home for the Holidays', in which Brougham, as a schoolboy, greets his mother, followed by a footman with his luggage: the Woolsack and the Great Seal in its Purse, appears to be based on HB's 'A Christmas Fire-Side', No. 236, 8 Jan. 1833.
