Tondo with St Mary Magdalene head and shoulders lying clutching a skull, after Annibale Carracci
- Production date
Height: 103 millimetres
Width: 116 millimetres (platemark)
- Curator's comments
The lettering does not state which Carracci was thought to have made the painting, and the attribution to Annibale may well be wrong.
The Staatliche Kunsthalle Karlsruhe owns a later state of this print (V 490), with the inscription completed. This is dated 1818, with a dedication by Luigi Bardi to the “Duchessa di Berwik ed Alba”. (Information kindly supplied by Sarah Massumi via email on 30 May 2016).
