Recto
The recto continues the anatomical investigation of the previous sheets through juxtaposed studies of limbs from varying angles, here a right and a left leg from the outside, the right leg to a greater scale and curtailed at mid-calf. Both are similar to the study on the recto of the previous page in exposing the femur and tibia with the bulging thigh muscles above merging with the femur where it joins the pelvis. The eliding of the difference between muscle and bone is a characteristic of this class of anatomical study as established by Michelangelo and is perhaps a sign of the origin of the drawings in casts of flayed and partially dissected body parts.
Verso
As with many of the drawings across the pages of this group, the verso shows the same limb from the same view but in differing scales and degrees of dissection.
