Recto
The left arm seen from the inside was drawn with the left edge as the bottom. It has initial indications in lead point, not always followed by the artist`s pen, such as along the outer contour of the shoulder.
The second study was drawn with the right edge as the bottom, equally over initial contours in leadpoint, most clearly visible along the contour of the back. In contrast to its companion, this shows a left arm seen from the outer side and with a considerable portion of the upper torso.
Verso
The verso contains two studies of a left shoulder, flayed to reveal the musculature. The underdrawing is visible in places, for example, in the right contour of the left-hand study. The right-hand study is drawn to a larger scale and from an adjusted view point, switching the focus from the shoulder to the upper torso.
