Reid 4701. Fourth issue of a periodical entitled: ‘The wits magazine and attic miscellany.’ One of ten editions bound together as a book (184. d.27. BM Satires Nos. 13152-13171) with coloured illustrations by Thomas Rowlandson. The text is a reissue of 'Tegg's Prime Jest Book', i. 1811-12, illustrated by Rowlandson, which was reissued as 'The Spirit of Irish Wit' (See Cohn, No. 768. Reid, No. 4701 and Cohn, No. 857.) Each part has a frontispiece and vignette with title and imprint. All Irish subjects.

Scene in the fashionable Navy Coffee House, Newcastle Street, London. A young Irishman, well-dressed but penniless, seated at dessert, jovially disputes with the proprietor, Morris, a stout elderly man. Partitions with curtains divide the tables; a woman mixes punch in the bar (right). There is a large wall-clock (time 5.50). Illustration to anecdote, p. 126 f.

Scene at the waterside. Two fishwives are disputing, a third watches, basket on head. Behind are two fishing smacks, and, in the background, a man selling fish to fishwives. Below the title: 'Two ladies in the Dublin fish-market, were one day disputing "Katty" said one . . .' [&c., as in BM Satires No. 13081].
