- One of three volumes assembled by F. W. Fairholt relating to the congresses of the British Archeological Association (1866,0512.1 to 399; 1866,0512.400 to 723; and 1866,0512.724 to 1778) kept at 290.c.6 to 8.
Fairholt's MS preface in volume 1: "These volumes comprise the Collections I made while attending the various Congresses of the British Archeological Association. I volunteered my aid as Honorary Draughtsman to the first Congress; previous to which I was comparatively unknown to the body; having been introduced by T. Crofton Croker. The success of that Meeting induced jeaulousy [sic] among some of the Council who prophesied failure, dissensiens [sic] arose, many inwarrantable personalities were indulged in, and the "Archaeological Institute" formed by the principal Seceders."
Fairholt's MS preface in volume 2: "The Six Congresses reported in these volumes were all which I attended as Draughtsman; I resigned that Office after the Chester Congress, when a very general resignation took place among the old friends with whom I had pleasantly worked for so many years."
Fairholt's MS preface in volume 3: "The present volume contains a complete set of proofs on India paper of woodcuts done for the Archaeological Journal; & the volumes of procedings at Winchester and Gloucester. It is the only perfect set ever taken. Some of the original drawings are added; and proofs of copper-plates. At the end I have placed a perfect set of proofs of that done for the Archaeological Album; which are also unique."
