Reid 5008. An illustrated book entitled: 'Kit Bam's adventures; or the yarns of an old mariner.' Illustrated by George Cruikshank.
With a blue figured textile binding, with a gold pattern on the spine with the title and "Illustrated by George Cruikshank" lettered on the spine.
Lettered on the title-page:
"By Mary Cowden Clarke. Author of the concordance to Shakespeare." with verses by Leigh Hunt and below:
"Illustrated by George Cruikshank. London: Grant and Griffith, successors to J. Harris, Corner of St. Paul's Churchyard. 1849."
With the following illustrations.
1. Reid 2445. Frontispiece. Kit, with the merman's family, seated about to breakfast, with two mer-children on his knees.
2. Reid 2446. 'Kit, the giant and the dwarf.' The friendly giant assisting Kit to escape from the malicious dwarf.
3. Reid 2447. 'A snug dinner.' Mrs Capsicum preparing her husband's veal cutlets, Kit Bam looking in the cottage windown.
4. Reid 2448. 'The marble count.' Kit about to use the battle-axe to release his arm from the grasp of Count Giulio's statue.
