Reid 4914. Number three of three volumes of an illustrated book entitled, "Lucien Greville."
Lettered on the title-page: "By a Cornet in the Hon. East India Company's Service. With Etchings by George Cruikshank. There are two illustration plates in each volume.
With a quotation below:
"On gen'ral habits, and on arts which grow, Spontaneous in the minds of all mankind, Hath dwelt our argument." Akenside:
With the publication details at the foot of the page: "In three Volumes. Vol 3. London: Saunders and Otley, Conduit Street. MDCCCXXXIII."
On the verso "Thoms, Printer 12, Warwick Square." with two illustrations:
1. Reid 1578. Officers surprising a man who is looking at his reflection in a cheval glass.
2. Reid 1579. Ramdosammy the orderly's disregard of Colonel Anson's order by appearing on the quarter-deck prior to the anticipated fight with the pirates.
Bound in cardboard, on the front cover:
"J. & R. Dewe's Public Circulating Library, Broad Street, Oxford. A general assortment of Stationery, Perfumery and Miscellaenous Articles. Pencil and Coloured Drawings lent to copy. Book binding, Engraving and Copper-Plate Printing, executed in the first style."
