Reid 4989. "George Cruikshank's table-book." Humorous essays on miscellaneous subjects with a series of comic and imaginative illustrations. Comprised of 284 pages in green textile binding with a gold, figured design on the above and spine. Lettered on the front cover: "George Cruikshank's Table Book, edited by G.A.D Beckett" and on the spine: "George Cruikshank's Table Book 1845." Originally issued in monthly installments.
The illustration on the opening page is described by GW Reid as follows:
1. Reid 4056. "Design for the wrappers of the monthly parts." (G. Ck W.J. Linton.) The title introduced in a panel, which is richly ornamented with comic figures, and a representation of a family circle beneath. The family from grandfather to the little girl in frock and trousers are delighted with the text and illustrations of "The Table Book" with which each persona is supplied.
Lettered on the title page: "George Cruikshank's Table-Book. Edited by Gilbert Abbott à Beckett. Illustrated by George Cruikshank. London: Published at the Punch Office , 92 Fleet Street; and sold by all booksellers. MDCCCXLV.

- According to AM Cohn (191) First issued in twelve monthly numbers, the first three of which have edges gilt. Subsequently published in cloth with a gilt design of the front and back covers. There is a plate list of the 12 steel etchings, 116 woodcuts and glyphographs. All the illustrations are by George Cruikshank.
GW Reid catalogues etchings, wood engravings and glyphographs seperately, therefore the catalogue numbers are not consecutive.
