Reid 5054. Illustrated book entitled "Puck on Pegasus" with a frontispiece by George Cruikshank. Bound in violet figured cloth with gilt edged pages. With the title and publisher (London, J.C. Hotten.) lettered in gold on the spine
1. Reid 2635. The etched frontispiece illustration "Puck on Pegasus" represents the steed on a support like that of a rocking horse at the top of the Mount; Puck on its back flourishes a squib; around are the scenes which he has conjured up.
A collection of short stories. Lettered on the title page, "Puck on Pegasus by H. Cholmondeley Pennell. Illustrated by Leech, Phiz, Portch, and Tenniel. With a frontispiece by George Cruikshank. Engraved by the Dalziel Brothers, Joseph Swain, & E. Evans." With a quotation from a "Midsummer Night's Dream." The publisher's details at the foot of the page:
"London: John Camden Hotten, Piccadilly, 1861."
On the opening page, opposite the frontispiece: "Printed by R. Clay, Son, and Taylor, Bread Street Hill."
Illustrated with a combination of illustration plates and vignettes with tail-pieces and illuminated letters throughout the text. Page numbers are not printed on the illustration plates or opening pages of each chapter.
