- Title and description based on GE Reid, 'A descriptive catalogue of the works of George Cruikshank.' 1871.
Cruikshank produced 20 coloured etchings for Kosewitz's 'Eccentric Tales from the German', originally published in 4 parts.
The Department of Prints and Drawings holds an illustrated copy of Kosewitz's 'Eccentric Tales from the German' (1865,1111,1048-1084./ 184.f.19.) A number of duplicates of the illustrations and extra illustrations (including the present print) were acquired with the book and there is overlap between registration numbers. This illustration is not included in the book.
