- Title and description based on GW Reid: 'A descriptive catalogue of the works of George Cruikshank.' 1871.
Cruikshank produced 20 coloured etchings for Kosewitz's 'Eccentric Tales from the German', originally published in 4 parts.
The Department of Prints and Drawings holds an illustrated copy of Kosewitz's 'Eccentric Tales from the German' (1865,1111,1048-1084./ 184.f.19.) A number of duplicates of the illustrations (including the present print) were acquired with the book and there is overlap between registration numbers.
