- Acquisition notes
- The group of 56 drawings by Thornhill, 1865,0610.1325 to 1380, was composed of the 34 drawings that formed lot 323 in the sale of the library of John Towneley (Sotheby's, 10-11.v.1865, £4 8s to Daniell), and 22 more drawings from Daniell's stock (part of a group purchased together with two drawings by David Allan and Richard Cosway - for which see 1865, 0610.1320 to 1322 - for £3 7s). It does not seem possible to say which drawings came from which source.
