The bridge at Virginia Water also features in another of Thomas Sandby's drawings in the BM collection, see 1904,0819.428. These views of Virgina Water were part of the series 'Eight Views of Windsor Great Park', a print series which serves as a testament to the Sandby brothers wide range of artistic skills. Bonehill & Daniels comment that it is likely the figures in that of the Royal Collection watercolour were drawn by Paul Sandby and the bridge by Thomas, this is also likely to be the case with this drawing. A number of highly regarded engravers such as Edward Rooker and Francois Vivares worked up the plates of these drawings for printing.
