- This is the preparatory study for the second plate (New Hollstein 191) in the series 'The riding school or exercise of cavalry', dated 1599. For an incomplete set see also 1871,0610.765-775 and 1871,0812.4554; the second plate is wanting.
Other drawings for the same print series (Van Regteren Altena, cat.nos.300-321) are in the Albertina, Vienna (Benesch cat.nos.393-394), in the Louvre, Paris (Lugt, cat.nos.277-278), and in the Boijmans van Beuningen Museum, Rotterdam.
