Curator's comments
For comment see 1864,0813.331. Hollar copied some of the labels from Claes Jansz Visscher's 1616 panorama (Hollstein 135) with a notable mistake. The circular building labelled "The Globe" is in fact the Hope Theatre, replacing the bear-baiting building which was demolished in 1614, and the larger circular building labelled "Beere bayting" is the second Globe Theatre of 1614, replacing Shakespeare's building which burned in 1613.
