A bust portrait of Gillray directed to the right and looking (left) at the spectator. It closely resembles, but is not identical with, the miniature of himself in the National Portrait Gallery, twice engraved and often reproduced. The background is a wall on which are prints by Gillray: behind his head (left) is BMSat 7867 (1791), of Paine measuring the Crown; the pendant is BMSat 8659. Both are reversed. Four other prints, two above and two below, are merely indicated. ? c.1800
