- Curator's comments
- This print was acquired as being after Greuze, but no such composition by him is known. There is only a generic resemblance to his painting of 'Le paralytique servi par ses enfants', engraved in 1767 (now in the Hermitage). It seems probable that the print records an essay in Greuze's manner by some other artist who was imitating him.
