Reid 4928. 'The Comic Almanack' for 1844 published by David Bogue and illustrated by George Cruikshank.
Bound as a book with issues of 'The Comic Almanack' for 1844-45 in red leather and textile with "George Cruikshank. Comic Almanack 1844-45" lettered on the spine.
On the title-page: "The Comic Almanack, for 1844: An ephermeris in jest and earnest containing all things fitting for such a work. by Rigdum Funnidos Gent adorned with numerous humorous illustrations and a dozen "righte merrie" cuts, pertaining to the months, by George Cruikshank." With a wood engraved vignette of an astrologer wearing a jester's hat surrounded by a skeleton, skull and black cat. Below: "London: Imprinted for David Bogue, Bibliopolist in Fleet Street." At the foot of the page: "Vizetelly Brothers & Co, Printers, Peterborough Court, 135 Fleet Street."
Contents include tables of fasts, festivals &c, sun and moon rises and and weather for each month with articles and verses throughout. Wood engraved illustrations are integrated with the text and etched illustration plates accompany each article (For individual plates, see References and Comments and Subject and Associations.)

An advertisement at the front of the book includes a speciment from 'The book of the months and circle of seasons.' with twenty-eight illustrations engraved by J.O.Smith and W. Linton from drawings by William Harvey, published by David Bogue.
