Maxims for the young republican: thirty-eight precepts of behaviour, engraved in two columns separated by medallions of revolutionary heroes on a spear, and flanked by fasces; in the upper part, three round medallions representing republican allegories; on the left Equality, in the middle, figure holding the book of destiny and on the right, Liberty; two Spirits with allegorical attributes (doves, burning heart, branch of laurel and club) surround the central medallion. c.1793
