- Curator's comments
- The print satirizes the July Monarchy using the image of the 'sans culottes' associated with the French Revolution. The three women are dressed with the three colours of French flag. The newspaper the woman on the left holds is inscribed 'Le Patriote', refers to the revolutionary newspaper 'Le Patriote français, ou Journal libre, impartial et national' published in Paris between 1789 and 1793.
