Portrait of French physician Charles Delorme, bust-length, in oval set within two entwined triangles forming a star (symbol of cosmic order) inscribed with Greek words, and surrounded by the Ouroboros (symbol of Eternity); from the latter hangs a coat of arms, flanked by a dog (Fidelity) and a dragon, guardian of treasures; two trees flank both sides of the composition: on the left a laurel tree, with a rooster (Vigilance) perched on a branch, and on the right, an elm with a sparrow (Prudence); in the background, two small scenes representing Asclepius resuscitating Hippolytus, and Apollo slaying Python. 1630
