- Curator's comments
- After a painting by Leclerc of c.1621/2 now in the Alte Pinakothek, Munich. IFF VII, pp.427-428, describes an original etching by Leclerc of this composition, which is only known in an impression in the Albertina. This is copied from that print, and is known in two states, the second of which has an inscription relating to the story of the Prodigal Son. The name of Callot was presumably added by Wyngaerde as a device for selling his print.
