Blackwood and sons) 1842; containing 5 full-page wood-engravings with plate tone: soldier standing on a pedestal in a niche flanked by two smaller knights in niches and armors; 'Penitence of Don Roderick', 'Bernardo's defiance of Alphonso', 'The flight from Granada', 'Escape of Gayferos' and 'Admiral Guarinos'; with coloured borders, initial letters and ornaments, head and tailpieces, and vignettes within the text. Together with chromolithograph title-page and table of contents including list of illustrations. Bound by Remnant and Edmonds in red leather with blind and gold tooling on the covers and spine, gilded edges, endpapers with colourful geometrical design with arabesque border.
