'Poems and pictures: a collection of ballads, songs, and other poems, illustrated by English artists' (London, James Burns) 1846, second edition; containing over 100 texts by various authors including M. Praed, Sir Walter Scott, Burns, Keats and Bryant, with 89 illustrative wood-engravings, text each page within an ornamental border, tissue guards between the pages. Together with table of contents, and list of illustrations; with 'Burns' Illustrated Catalogue, a list of popular works recently published, with descriptive notices and specimens of engravings, letter-press, &c' comprising title-page and 19 sheets of advertisement at the end. Bound in brown half-leather, marbled boards, with gold tooling on spine and raised bands.

- Pen and ink note on flypage: "This copy with all the cancels was selected for L Simth by Mr Franklyn with the permission of Mr Burns (also the catalogue at the end) as a gift. / 1846 / Beware of Popery". The sentance 'Beware of Popery!' is inscribe again on the half-title page.
