A transfer drawing by Robert Johnson is in the collection of the Natural History Society of Northumbria; Bewick's graphite study is at the Newberry Library, Chicago.
According to Iain Bain in 'The Watercolours and Drawings of Thomas Bewick and his Workshop Apprentices' (London: 1981, II, p.173), an image of this subject was engraved during the week ending 26 July 1800.
