- Turner, Florentine Drawings of the Sixteenth Century, London, 1986
1860,0616.103 and 1860,0616.104 are closely connected and could even be fragments of the same sheet of paper. Gabelentz dates them c.1516, and relates them to two in the Louvre (inv. nos 215 and 218; Gabelentz, ii, pp. 149f., nos 361 and 363). Also closely related to both is a study at Besançon (inv. no. 3016). The type of drawing, with frequent corrections, illustrates the influence on Fra Bartolommeo of the style of Leonardo da Vinci.
Literature: BB (1903) 404A; Gabelentz, ii, p. 120, no. 273; BB (1938) 404A.
